Commercial Class 6 & 7 Trucks
Commercial Class 6 & 7 Trucks, such as cargo vans and utility trucks, are used for many industries. These are perhaps the most common types of fleet vehicles used by mail and package delivery companies, local distributors, large contractors, etc. Most of these vehicles feel under powered when fully loaded. In addition, they tend to have frequent stops that decrease fuel economy. PureFlow® AirDog®, a U.S. manufacturer, can help with many common engine issues in commercial class 6 & 7 trucks.
The Fuel Preporator® II can benefit any diesel engine. Long haul trucks typically see the fastest ROI, but the improved throttle response and increase engine life is a win for all diesel engines. While maintaining trucks on the road is becoming more costly every day, trucks using the Fuel Preporator® II average about a 1/2 MPG increase.
The Fuel Preporator® II is an improved filtration system that removes water, debris, and AIR! We know water and debris damage engine components, but few realize air and vapor are just as harmful. Re-fueling, engine fuel return, and normal tank sloshing entrain approximately 10% air and vapor into the fuel and ultimately your engine. This results in three negative effects:
- The transfer pump can run dry when starting, heavy acceleration, and at higher altitudes. This will cause accelerated wear of the pump due to the lack of lubrication normally provided by the fuel.
- Injector wear and tip erosion is also accelerated. Diesel acts as both a lubricant and a dampener. As the injector slams shut, distortion and even breakage of the injector tip can happen if there is nothing to soften the blow. Also, the high pressure air release causes pitting of the metal, which may lead to leaky injectors.
- Air in the fuel system actually retards the timing of the engine. Since air is compressible, it will delay pressure build up from the injection pump. As the injector opens, the air pockets are released first, allowing the piston to move past the optimum position to create a complete and clean combustion.
The Fuel Preporator® II solves all three of these problems. Without air and vapor, your fuel system's components are protected with constant lubrication and buffering while correcting injection timing. Dynamometer testing proves the Fuel Preporator® II effectively removes air across all RPM ranges, which is superior to the competition's ability to only do so at lower RPMs.
In addition, the increase in positive volume of fuel to the engine helps with de-fueling issues. When the throttle is depressed, most drivers feel a lag, or delay, before power reaches the wheels. This is caused by a sudden lack of fuel at the transfer pump. The vacuum created with the sudden increase in fuel demand is too much for atmospheric pressure to compensate rapidly. This lack of fuel flow occurs throughout the entire RPM range even if the driver does not feel the lag. To compensate, driver will usually depress the accelerator pedal even further and in turn use more fuel to reach the desired wheel speed. With our added flow from the built in pump, the lack of fuel is no longer a factor. When the transfer pump needs it, it does not have to wait for atmospheric pressure to push on the fuel and supply the transfer pump. Therefore, the needed power is there for the driver and allows them to actually let off the pedal. The same phenomenon is exaggerated at higher altitudes and more apparent because of the decrease of atmospheric pressure at those altitudes.

Engine: International MaxxForce DT466-E
Since the installation of the Fuel Preporator® II, I have noticed an increase in power. Also in steep terrain, I have been able to not grab as many lower gears to maintain a steady speed. My fuel mileage used to be 6.7MPG. I am now averaging between 7.5 to 7.9 MPG depending on weight! My personal opinion, Fuel Preporator® II is a great investment for a long term hauler; not only in fuel savings but also in less drive train wear.
